Set Boundaries That Free You to Fulfill Your Purpose

A free worksheet that walks you through five simple questions to set a boundary that holds.

Every reason was true. The line still kept slipping.

For years, we kept saying yes to work that wasn’t ours to do. People saw the videos and designs we produced and asked, “Could you do that for us?” It was good work, and sometimes great work, but it pulled us away from the one thing we were here to do: help you fulfill your purpose.

So we drew a line. We started with one thing. ‘We won’t build websites anymore.' We listed every reason we couldn’t. Every reason was true, and the line still didn’t hold.

Here’s what I learned. When a boundary lives in “I won’t” and “I can’t,” all your attention goes to guarding the wall. Day in, day out, you defend it, until you’re too tired to keep going and the line moves.

Everything changed when we asked a different question: What can we do?

Set a boundary that holds.

5 Simple Questions

The Servant’s Way™ moves you through five stages: I won’t, I can’t, I can, I will, I am. This worksheet gives you space to work through each stage with a boundary you’re facing right now:

I won’t. What won’t you do anymore? Name it plainly.
I can’t. What can’t you do anymore, and why?
I can. What can you do instead?
I will. What will you do to hold that line?
I am. What are you doing to hold that line?

The first two stages name the line. The last three are where it starts to hold, because your attention moves to what you’re here to do.

You stop forcing discipline and the boundary holds the line for you.

This was the part I never saw coming. Once a boundary is set from “I can,” you don’t have to win on willpower every single day.

You have something to measure, so you can see honestly what you’re doing to hold the line. If a goal changes along the way, the boundary still stands.

The process works for any boundary, whether personally, professionally, at home, or across a whole company. Once you’re clear on why you’re here, it comes alive. Every boundary gets anchored to your purpose, and every one of them frees you to fulfill it.

The Servant Framework™ aligns you to your purpose.
The Servant’s Way™ ensures you fulfill it.

Think of one boundary you’ve drawn that keeps slipping.

Download the worksheet, take 5 minutes, and work it through all five stages.
